Art Alchemy, Scientific
Wonder & Visual Bliss Picture this: A group of
enthusiastic young minds wielding paintbrushes like magic wands, turning
scientific marvels into visual wonders. From the delicate intricacies of a
butterfly's wing to the cosmic dance of stars, our budding Audubons and
Rousseaus are weaving a tapestry of art that transcends the boundaries
between science and creativity. It's art alchemy at its finest, where every
stroke brings the beauty of the natural world to life. (Above) “Lion”, Ericka S., 4th grade. Mixed media on

Science & Nature From microscopic cells to distant galaxies, the possibilities are
endless. By encouraging young minds to merge scientific concepts with
artistic expression, we foster a unique connection between the logical and
the imaginative. “Peacock”, Kaylen P., 4th Grade. Mixed media on paper. |

Vibrant & Healthy Food:
Rufino Tamayo » Last month, we delved into
the vibrant world of Rufino Tamayo, blending artistic brilliance with the
goodness of fruits and healthy foods. With color palettes resembling a
bountiful farmers' market, our young artists skillfully crafted delicious
masterpieces inspired by Tamayo's rich and bold aesthetic. Kudos to our
little visionaries for turning paper, markers and glue into a delectable
feast for the eyes and the soul! |

Abstract Art & Surrealism
Unit: Joan Miró » We recently embarked on an
enchanting journey into the whimsical world of Joan Miró. With brushes dipped
in creativity and hearts brimming with enthusiasm, our young artists embraced
the abstract and surrealist magic of Miro's masterpieces. From playful squiggles
to bold bursts of color, their artworks became kaleidoscopes of imagination.
The success of this unit not only showcases the incredible talent within our
young creatives but also highlights the boundless possibilities when
imagination and education intertwine. Bravo to our little maestros for
turning the ordinary into extraordinary! |

“A collaboration between The Faris Foundation, HISD Fine Arts
Department, and Asia Society Texas Center, Threads of Gold is an annual arts
educator professional development workshop and student art exhibition,
reaching 300 teachers and over 200,000 students across Houston each year. Threads of Gold is inspired by gold – the symbolic color for
childhood cancer awareness, and a material laden with symbolic significance
across cultures and history. Through Threads of Gold, students are empowered
to raise awareness around childhood cancer, and gain first-hand experience in
using art as form of social engagement and social change.” From the Faris
